Animals

A pack of rabid animals
Hyenas playing at being wolves
Cackling like fucking fools
It's more about power than about truth
They've been waiting for you to take the bait
So they can pounce as soon as you leave your cage
To make you think it's where you should've stayed
It's less about justice than keeping you tamed
They dig around for evidence
Like a pig snout deep in the shit in its pen
But the shit they claim is sufficient
Says less about you than it does about them
Vultures desperate to disprove
Circling above your every move
The scrutiny they subject you to
Says more about them than it does about you
These animals, they run the zoo
These animals, they run the zoo
Try to discredit and disprove
But the truth is that I believe you

Shapeshifter

You could pull off the perfect crime but your target is too small
You stole nothing but glances as you leaned on the wall
And held your concentration on maintaining the form
You'd held through sheer force of will since you walked through the door
The choice is between being alone in your place
And going out but letting them chose your shape
You got sick and tired 'cause it seemed like a sin
To use all that potential on just blending in
Yeah you could take any shape and you could have any face
If it's a good enough fake no one knows it's out of place
You spread yourself out so thin and stretched yourself up so tall
Before you knew what had happened, you turned into a wall
A master of disguise, you could've stolen the scene
But the paradox is that means you can't escape clean
With all these systems in place to make sure you comply
You know how to craft wings, but how the fuck could you fly?
Yeah you could take any shape and you could have any face
If it's a good enough fake no one knows it's out of place
You spread yourself out so thin and stretched yourself up so tall
Before you knew what had happened, you turned into a wall

Gravity
03:11
|
|
||
We built a city inside a black hole so no one could leave
If they tried they'd be pulled right back, you can't escape gravity
I saw the whole thing fold up on itself, collapsing inevitably
I couldn't say what we expected under all that gravity
We make excuses for the darkness, light can't escape gravity
But there's no rationalizing away the fact that none of us can see
Gravity holds me down so I don't drift around
But I can't help but think about how you don't need water to drown
(Note: This is one of the first songs we ever wrote together, for a band that sounded quite unlike Blood Bags. Big thanks to our fam Eli for encouraging us to rewrite it into a tune that fits our style.)
